The only thing that’s for certain is that someone will win the Ashes. Just who it is, we’ll just have to wait and see. Having enjoyed 15 years of watching Australia smash all before them we thought it a safe bet to have a bit of a digital fun at England’s expense and developed Gifts for England, where online and on Facebook Australian cricket fans can graciously donate their own rubbish gifts to the English in lieu of them retaining the Ashes and taking the urn back home. England, of course have had other ideas and have actually learned how to play cricket off shore. In response Mr Mumbles has developed the alternate Facebook app Gifts for Australia. No one has ever said that Mr Mumbles doesn’t like to back a winner.

We’re told the Salmon was delicious but could it match the culinary delights of a Qantas inflight meal? Not likely. Whilst stranded on the tarmac at Canberra airport we heard that the regional campaign we developed with the good folk at AUSTAR for the Winter Olympics had picked up a silver at the ADMAs for effectiveness. 7 hours after taking off we did manage to catch the tail-end of dessert and indulged in a 3am Topolinos special at the end. Congrats to AUSTAR and all the other winners.

Otherwise known as a glitch. Special thanks to the Murph for letting us in on this one. Glitch is a massively-multiplayer game, playable in the browser and built in the spirit of the web. It is currently in development and will launch late in 2010. Private alpha is beginning shortly and a public beta period will begin this summer. I’m completely confused as to how it’s going to manifest itself but I’m assured by the teaser that that’s how I’m supposed to feel. I’m looking forward to being completely befuddled in the the new year anyway.

We’ve been assured the honorary doctorate is in the mail so it’ll be Doctor Mumbles from now on. The most wise and brainy folk at the University of Sydney have very kindly asked us to assist them in launching their huge initiative, The Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease (CODCD). It’s a $385m multi- disciplinary biomedical research and training centre which will expand capacity for basic, clinical and translational research on the causes, prevention and treatment of the chronic diseases that are the greatest threat to health among most populations worldwide. Dr Mumbles will be the eyes, ears and tongue specialist charged with developing the strategic, brand and communication platform for the Centre and we’re obviously extremely excited and honoured to help the University of Sydney spread the important word to the Universe.
