Change is not easy, but often necessary if we want to see big results. Here are four of the many questions that we often ask our clients (and ourselves) about change.
What is the vision guiding the change?
Defining the vision for change helps everyone involved in the process to stay on track and aligned throughout the process. If everyone knows the destination, the journey to change will be smoother, and it will be easier to recognise when you’ve arrived.
Are you giving honest answers to the big questions?
When faced with the possibility of change, it can be tempting to paint a bright picture of the current situation in an attempt to avoid change altogether. Being honest about what’s happening today will make it easier to discern what needs to be done create change tomorrow.
What is the cost of not changing?
If change seems too hard to contemplate, think about the possible cost of not changing. What do you have to lose? How hard will it be to implement change in 5, 10, or 15 years time if changes aren’t made now? Thinking about what may happen if you don’t change can help to make it clear why you need to.
What will success look like?
Keep your eyes on the prize. What will you do, think and feel when the changes have been implemented? How will you measure success? Knowing what you want to achieve through change, and thinking about how you’ll feel when it’s achieved is a great way to focus the mind on the need for change in the first place.
